Big Muddy Bbq in Hannibal

Amazingly tasty BBQ-- Highly recommend!! (Not the best pic, but I was just snapping one to send to my dad who loves bbq immensely) 😊

This was the first time having Big Muddy BBQ and it was to be delivered. Not only did the order come with the wrong sides we got no utinsles and napkins. We were staying at a motel and very hungry after 3 hours travel. The food was alright. I liked the potato salad. Here's the kicker, friends went there for the first time same night. They enjoyed the food but were told at 8:50 to get out by the waitress because they close at 9. Not politely asked but rudely told.Need to work on your customer service at the hwy location folks!

Good down home bbq

Service here is quick. The BBQ is better than chain food. You can smell the smoke walking in and you know it's going to be good. Has all the makings of a hometown favorite. Good service, good food, unique storefront. Locals recommended it and I am glad they did.

Great ribs and candied yams. Pork etc just as awesome. The ribs are dry rub. You get the bbq sauce on the side. Fall apart meat and fat even melts in your mouth and I hate meat fat. The sauce seems vinegar based. I love that. I know some folks don't. The candied yams are so delicious. And the slaw is very creamy and good. Love it all.

Great ambiance. The restaurants smelled amazing. The ribs and pulled pork were okay. They were very tender but lacked a smoked flavor. The the brisket was very tender and very juicy, but also lacked to smoke flavor. The barbecue sauce options were delicious. The baked beans tasted like they were just canned baked beans with little modification. The candied yams were absolutely amazing. That was my favorite. The owner was the best part of the experience. He was very very nice and inviting. It's worth a stop if you're not looking for deep smoked flavor.

Everything I have tried there is amazing, but the pulled pork nachos are a revelation. Best I ever had!Can't wait to be back.

Absolutely amazing after a long day of trucking.

Smoked chicken was very moist and flavorful. Potato salad was awesome! Brisket sandwich was excellent. BBQ sauce was a little too sweet for my taste, but the meat was good on its own. Great price for the servings.

UPDATE: So my last review was from their original location downtown, and man, even to this day I can remember how good it was! They have moved now to this location and I honestly think it was even better than the first time! As good as this was this time I would even consider driving the 120 miles to come back just for the ribs, brisket, ends, and pulled pork......man it was good! This was great BBQ! We came here after going to the BEST FIREWORK STORE IN THE WORLD and boy were we hungry! They didn't disappoint! The food was great and we pretty much ordered all the meats! We ate them all and we left fat. It was delightful!

I had a half rack of ribs with candied yams and cole slaw. Everything was very good and I couldn't finish all the ribs. They were really meaty, smoked, juicy, and well seasoned. I wasn't even tempted to use any barbeque sauce.

Great BBQ and plenty of it. We got two snack plates, basically meat samplers. We could have shared one but instead we have lunch tomorrow.

This is a great place to sit down and eat or carry out some quality barbecue. The one-man show took orders, prepared and served meals, and made small talk with a friendly attitude. Atmosphere is quiet but comfortable and clean.Prices were decent; expect to satisfy most appetites for about $10 each (unless you're getting ribs, which are more).Barbecue taste preference is something each locale has to work out for itself, but I would say the sauces were far on the sweet side of the spectrum. Very good to my taste though.Place seems to be mildly busy with locals and out-of-towners.Great food, good prices, great service, good atmosphere. Give it a try.

Hubby & I were traveling thru the area and wanted some BBQ. Decided to give this place a try. I ordered a brisket sandwich w/ 2 sides & he ordered half rack ribs with 2 sides. Both our meats were bland, dry, & luke warm. Only taste was that of liquid smoke. Coleslaw was creamy but had an odd taste. Brisket green beans tasted like they came out of a can. Potato salad was ok, but not great. I think the best part of our meal was the fountain pop. VERY overpriced for the quality or lack of. Cashier/food prepper/waitress was a very nice girl. That's the only reason for 2 star rating.

First time here, won't be last. Everything we had was phonemonial! Prices were extremely reasonable.

I've never had barbecue this good!! And the price good!! They had Pork Steak weighing 1.35lbs. before cooking & 3 sides for 6.99 Very clean and Friendly with a great atmosphere.They are opening a new location at 61Hwy and MM

Good pulled pork, very reasonable prices, and lightning fast to-go orders.

Brisket was great, with the perfect amount of bark. The beans were great. I didn't care for the pulled pork, but porks not my favorite. It's what you get when you can't find brisket. I will try the chicken next time and post an update.

Really good barbecue from a place that didn't seem like much. Friendly people and food was out fast. This was around 10 bucks I believe with a drink. I'm a trucker and next time I'm in the area I'll stop here to eat for SURE!

Absolutely great, fast and friendly service and the barbeque is the best in hannibal, personally I recommend the brisket sandwich, or get the snack pkate and try it all. I was very scared about the chicken as well because most bbq places arent good with chicken but it was amazing. Their sauces were exquisite qnd the beans were perfect too. I only wish they had normal baked potatoes though not just the baked sweet potato.

We went to big muddy BBQ last night and it was our first time going to the one on hwy61. The food was probably top 2 I've ever had not to mention the people was great, we ordered the sampler and the cook made sure there was plenty for me and my wife . We would definitely recommend if you like bbq

I got half a rack, two sides,and a soft drink (on a foam cup) for 18.50... It was dry and hard, almost chewy. Definitively overcooked, the sause was better; tangy on the sweet side and smokey. For my sides I had potato salad (was OK) and the best part of the meal was the baked beans. Also...I was given mismatching plastic utensils.Bandanas is better

Great place to eat quality food for the price and you will always seem to leave with a to go box. Specials are always going on check out the place daily. Pork steak special should be a national holiday for sure

Really good bbq. The Apple cider vinegar and brown sugar on the ribs were pleasantly different from the Texas bbq I am accustomed to. Still prefer my Texas bbq but this was tender and juicy, tyvm

Great food, great flavour. Usually has a smokey smell when they smoking the pork. Little cozy place that seats about 30 people or so

We absolutely loved our Pulled Pork Tacos. Super tasty! We shared as still couldn't eat it all.

Pulled pork was okay kind of greasy. Green beans tasted good until I bit into some dirt. Pork and beans were so hot they burned my mouth. They have green peppers in them which I hate so not a fan. Overall. Not impressed.

Great food... and great people. The lady in the back is wonderful! It made the whole experience that much better!

Over the last several years we have stopped at BIG Muddy. But yesterday took home a box of ribs and Chiken. The bark on the food was TERRIFIC. 5 STARS

Customer service at its worst! At 1:30 p.m. no tea made and was told she wasn’t making any. Asked for slaw on pulled pork sandwich and was told it was a side. Fine I’ll pay the extra. Then was told that they would not put slaw on sandwich. I said fine I’ll do it myself. When received order guess what.....no slaw! $20 for two sandwiches and a child size drink (that was supposed to be a large) to be treated like I was a burden for even walking in the door. We travel thru this area quite a bit but will never spend our hard earned money to be treated this way.

Hey! Eat Big Muddy BBQ! It's delicious, the brisket is smoked and fresh, the beans are warm and a little spicy. The greens are tasty and cooked with brisket. Staff was friendly and helpful. Smiles for days filled an empty, road-weary stomach for a low price.

BBQ was good. Had sauce on it already. Slaw was very good. Baked beans OK. Neat old building. Close to water front and historic Hannibal.

Good put a little more effort in your coleslaw potato salad not that good taste store bought did not like the rub you put on your Meats but people there were nice super nice they was the only thing good about the place was the employees

My wife and me stopped in here this spring. It was a great respite from the freeway. We want to come back and spend more time in town. The food was top notch. We kept talking about how good it was weeks after we left. Can't wait to go back.

Passed this place a few times and finally stopped. I'm good and full till tomorrow. Great food a must stop from now on
